Good energy bar overall, but it has too much sugar! Aug 07, 2010 It's better than most other energy bars, but each bar has over 20g of sugar.
They need to reduce the amount of sugar to 10g~15g... then I can eat more Clif Bars.

Glutamate - Free Glutamic Acid - the harmful substance in MSG Jun 28, 2010 According to the Clifbar website none of their products contain MSG however they do use several ingredients that (especially when refined) contain large amounts of free glutamic acid. Soy protein isolate and barley malt extract which are both in "ClifPro", the second ingredient on the label. Be aware of what's in your food. Bonded glutamic acid = good and found naturally in many unprocessed foods. Free glutamic acid = bad! And not at all safe. Free glutamic acid is an excitotoxin. I used to love clifbars! So disappointing...
Favorite Flavor Apr 06, 2010 This is a good deal on what is--in my opinion--the best Clif Bar flavor out there. I've tried nearly all of them and this one just has the best taste. It doesn't feel like a forced blend (i.e. the Carrot Cake flavor tastes like carrots and sugar, not actual carrot cake). I am still waiting to try White Chocolate Macdamia Nut if I could find in stores anywhere...

The Oatmeal Raisin Tastes Homemade but Too Much Sugar Feb 15, 2010 20 grams of sugar?! US Guidelines advise a maximum of 40g refined sugar a day and organic brown rice syrup still qualifies as refined.
Too bad because (other than being overly sweet) they taste great, are nutritious and high fiber.
At 24 bars for $25, they are well priced at just a hair over a $1 a bar and that's with no taxes and free shipping.
Ounce for ounce, you'll find Kashi bars to be almost as tasty with more fiber and half the sugar.
Clif, please make some lower sugar versions (and no artificial sweeteners) for those of us not climbing mountains and running marathons.
Good Energy Bar Jan 15, 2010 Finally a good energy bar that not only tastes good but actually keeps you full for longer than 30 min. Not only that but it actually has nutritional value. It's a bit pricey but A Cliff Bar and a piece of fruit can easily take the place of a meal for people who are on the go but are still not tying to give up their money to the fast food chains.
